The Love & Trust of a Friend
This was probably the first voluntary poem I ever wrote. It was written for my dear friend David Zimmer back in the spring of my eighth grade year. It shows my heart flowing out into statements of lyrical form.
Yea, what great love
One must have for a friend.
A friend who cares
When all has forsaken and all is lost.
Oh, the compassion,
For my deepest of companions.
There is great joy in my soul,
As we walk side by side down the path
Towards our resting place.
This world is all around, tearing at my clothes,
Tormenting me.
But as I yearn for the end,
I stay close to you,
With my eyes focused on my Guide,
The Lord of lords.
Together we shall,
With all endurance,
Finish this journey.
But until we have reached the gates
We shall encourage and love each other
For coming ages.
